Hi, 2021-12-14 双周会纪要: MPAM 参与方：ARM & Ali 相关工作： - 参与社区MPAM的测试和review。 - 参与MPAM在新硬件上的开发适配。 - 参与MPAM的DDR带宽控制等功能。当前状态： ‒ ACPI表差异很大，适配ACPI表中，再做更多的测试和开发。 Anolis OS支持Ampere平台参与方：Ampere & Ali 相关工作： ‒ Ampere机器的提供 ‒ 合入Ampere LTS patches和相关特性patches进入Anolis OS，patches已开源。 ‒ Ampere测试用例加入到testfarm的测试平台？（Baolin确定） ‒ 通过Openanolis的testfarm测试，解决相关稳定性问题。 Anolis OS支持Phytium平台参与方：Phytium & Ali 相关工作： - 合入Phytium平台的稳定性补丁和特性补丁到Anolis OS。 - 解决Phytium平台的相关稳定性问题。 Action： ‒ 是否可以提供Phytium机器到Openanolis？（文成） ‒ Openanolis捐赠的机器外部是否可以公开，对外部访问？（Baolin） ARM top-down analysis tools ‒ Ali内部sync，参与ARM&Ali PMU meeting。（Baolin） ‒ common PMU的需求定义 ARM persistent memory solution ‒ 了解NVDIMM-P/N在Ampere平台的状况。（Feifei） ‒ ARM一直在贡献PMDK。 ‒ etmem状态 ARM power & performance balancing on server ‒ ARM Power性能比intel要好from Feifei。 ‒ 业务场景Power画像 ‒ EAS是否可以应用在Server？技术topic分享 ‒ MPAM分享（下次双周会）

ARM SIG proposals

Hi All, ARM SIG已经成立，我们计划下周二（12/14）上午10点到12点举行第一次proposal讨论会议。（稍后会议链接会发出）目前Ali这边在ARM SIG中比较关心的几个项目如下，欢迎大家提出建议。 1. MPAM 背景： MPAM 是 ARM v8.4引入的Cache QoS和内存带宽QoS功能特性，是目前业界与之最接近的是intel的 RDT 特性。引入MPAM功能特性，主要是为了解决CPU访存过程中因为共享资源的竞争带来的关键性业务性能下降或者系统整体性能下降的问题，这对于混部业务的部署来说，尤为重要。相关工作： - 参与社区MPAM的测试和review。 - 参与MPAM在新硬件上的开发适配。 - 参与MPAM的DDR带宽控制等功能。 2. Anolis OS支持Ampere平台相关工作： - 合入Ampere LTS patches和相关特性patches进入Anolis OS。 - 通过Openanolis的testfarm测试，解决相关稳定性问题。 3. Anolis OS支持Phytium平台相关工作： - 合入Phytium平台的稳定性补丁和特性补丁到Anolis OS。 - 解决Phytium平台的相关稳定性问题。 4. ARM top-down analysis tools 背景：目前针对ARM ARCH的性能分析工具是缺失的，比如x86有自己的pmu tools工具来帮助分析ARCH上的性能问题。对于一些云场景上的workload，性能分析和性能要求是很重要的一部分，所以对ARM ARCH的top-down性能分析工具也有很大的需求。工作： - 开源一套通用的ARM top-down工具 - 目前基于Ampere平台？ 5. ARM persistent memory solution 背景： PMEM的普及，特别是Intel的下几代pmem产品(AEP, BPS, CPS, ...)在硬件上越来越高效，PMEM将会慢慢取代DRAM，特别是类似Redis, AI, 大数据等需要大内存的云上应用越来越多，以及CXL总线的成熟，很有可能成为未来数据中心的主流方案，并颠覆未来的计算机体系统架构(memory-based architecture)。适用于对内存使用较多且访问相对不频繁的业务软件，扩展效果较好，比如MySQL、Redis等。但是ARM上PMEM的解决方案还还没有完善，需要准备起来。相关工作： - PMEM硬件驱动适配 - tiered memory方案设计 - 应用垂直优化 6. Some ideas about Arm-Arch SIG running

Hi All, We all know Arm-Arch SIG was built months ago. It absolutely is a good news for all who have strong interests on Arm64. But SIG seems a bit too quiet. So I would like to raise some ideas below to trigger the possible wide discussion. Because Arm-Arch SIG is just initiated, some general questions probably make sense. * What is role and objective of Arm-Arch SIG * To steer the Arm64 based technology directions? To productize some valuable architectural features based on service scenarios? To stabilize Arm64 based OS as the cornerstone of OpenAnolis? Or …. * There are many other SIGs, such as Cloud Kernel, what is the relationship with or difference from those partner SIGs? * As the downstream of Linux kernel mainline, how to interact with mainline? * … * What is the governance hierarchy or model of this SIG * Are there any consistent principles about SIG governance? * Are there any role definitions for this SIG? * How to keep the balance between efficiency and high quality output based on some governance rules? * … * Are there any facilities or resources needed to support SIG running * How to improve the cooperation among multiple participators? * How to make engineering contributions in this SIG? * How to make the engineers’ life more easier? * … * The first step for Arm-Arch * What can/should we do as the first step? * Can we discuss everything about Arm-Arch in public channels from now on? * … Any comments are welcome!
